Clearscope alternative: ranking and traffic signals vs claims that are still true
Most Clearscope alternative lists are written by tools that compete on price. This one starts from the job: if you need to write to a content grade, other tools do that. If you need to know whether the claims on your published pages are still true, that is the job Veritas is built for.
Key takeaways
- Clearscope helps you discover topics, track AI mentions, write to a content grade and monitor pages through Search Console.
- Its Content Decay view compares clicks over 90 days with the same 90 days a year earlier. It measures traffic, not whether a page's facts are right.
- Checking claims isn't stated on its site. Veritas checks whether the claims on published pages are still true; it doesn't grade term coverage or track rankings.
Clearscope is a content optimisation tool. Search for an alternative and nearly every result is a vendor's own list of 'best Clearscope alternatives', ranking itself first, mostly on price. Several still describe plans and features that Clearscope no longer sells.
This page reads Clearscope's own site, checked on 2 November 2026, and compares it with Veritas cell by cell. It says what Clearscope does, where its closest features stop, and when you should stay with it.

Is Clearscope still around?
Yes. clearscope.io loads normally on its home, pricing, integrations and support pages, and the product is now organised around four steps: Discover, Track, Write and Monitor.
We found no acquisition or rebrand announcement. Its own site has no about or press page that states who owns it, so we can't confirm ownership either way. Search found no reports of a sale, which is absence of evidence rather than proof.
One related fact: Clearscope's blog has a post dated 22 October 2025 about a competitor, Surfer, being acquired by Positive Group. That post is a competitor's marketing, so treat it as a pointer, not a neutral source.
What Clearscope does, in its own words
From clearscope.io, seen on 2 November 2026:
Enter a topic or a site and get the questions people ask Google and AI tools, with search volume, intent and which brands each engine names.
See how often Google and AI assistants mention you for a query, next to competitors you choose, and read the answers themselves.
Start a draft from a query's intent, get term guidance and a live content grade, and work in Google Docs or Microsoft Word, with a CMS plugin available.
Connect Search Console to watch each page's grade, clicks and SEO value, with saved views for content decay, striking-distance queries, technical issues and internal linking.
Its home page describes the audience as 'solo creators to global content teams'. Customer results on that page, such as traffic growth and hours saved per article, are quotes supplied by Clearscope and we haven't checked them.
What its Content Decay view measures
Content decay is the part of Clearscope closest to what Veritas covers, so it is worth being exact about what it looks at.
Per its help article, the view shows total clicks over the last 90 days compared with the same 90 days in the previous year, as a raw difference and a percentage, plus a 12-month sparkline.
A Search Console connection. It counts clicks only.
A 2023 post from Clearscope defined decay as clicks lost between a page's peak month and the previous full month. Roundups that describe that method are out of date.
A page can lose clicks for many reasons. The view reports that clicks fell, not that a statistic, date or job title on the page went out of date.
Its Striking Distance view is the same kind of signal. It lists pages ranking at position 10 or lower for a target query with at least 100 monthly searches by default, and scans positions 10 to 20. That is a ranking opportunity, not a fact check.
What Clearscope's site doesn't say
Absence from a vendor's pages isn't proof a feature is impossible, so we use one phrase for these: not stated.
The home, pricing, integrations, Monitor and support pages we read don't mention checking whether claims or numbers in a page are true. Its grade is about term coverage, and Monitor watches clicks, grade and rankings.
Its API address showed only a sign-in page, so we can't say what it offers. Third-party lists mention one; we couldn't confirm it from Clearscope.
G2 refused our automated check and Capterra's listing wasn't found, so we print no rating.
Pricing, in outline
Results disagree about Clearscope's price, and several are stale, so we describe the structure and leave the figures to its pricing page.
A small plan, a team plan with six times the tracked queries and pages, and a custom enterprise plan.
Tracked queries, pages, monthly discoveries and monthly drafts. Users and projects are unlimited on every plan.
Add-ons for extra queries, pages and drafts.
A 14-day trial with no contract, per its pricing page.
One list we read gives a price range that matches nothing on the current page, and another gives a 'per report' cost that the current page doesn't mention. Read the pricing page itself before you compare.
Where Veritas is different
Veritas is an autonomous fact-maintenance agent. It reads a publisher's sitemaps or feeds, finds checkable claims on each page, looks for evidence on the web, and tells editors when a claim is no longer true.
Statistics, dates, who holds a role, quotes, events, scientific and medical facts, comparisons and superlatives. It skips opinion and prediction.
It searches for evidence outside your own pages, prefers primary sources, and returns one of five verdicts: supported, contradicted, outdated, misleading or unverifiable.
A review queue with the evidence, citations and a suggested rewrite that can be applied in one click.
On a schedule, and it re-checks pages again after 7, 45 or 365 days depending on the claim.
It doesn't grade term coverage, suggest keywords or track rankings or AI mentions. Those are Clearscope's jobs.
The two tools answer different questions
Clearscope answers 'is this page competitive for the query, and is it losing traffic?'. Veritas answers 'are the claims on this page still true?'.
A page can rank well and earn a top grade while quoting last year's figure. A page can be perfectly accurate and still lose clicks because a competitor wrote a better one.
Clearscope's Content Decay view flags it. Veritas can't tell you why.
Veritas flags the sentence. Clearscope's views won't notice until clicks move.
Many teams will want both signals, because a refresh is easier to justify when you know which facts have gone stale.
See which facts on your site have gone out of date.
Request early accessWhy a refresh list should include facts
Refresh lists built from traffic alone point you at pages that have already lost readers. By then the damage is done, and the fix is a guess.
If a statistic or a role has changed, the reader can see it before your analytics do. A list built from claims puts those pages in front of an editor sooner, with the specific sentence to change.
That doesn't replace a ranking view. It adds a reason to touch a page that the ranking view doesn't give you.
Where roundups of Clearscope alternatives go wrong
We read the top results for this search. They share some habits worth knowing about.
Most are written by Search Atlas, AirOps, Frase, RankAI, Rankability and similar vendors.
Several quote plans Clearscope has since replaced, and one describes decay with the 2023 method.
Some lists include link tools and general SEO suites that don't grade content at all.
Two vendor pages in the results returned a not-found error when we checked.
No list asked whether a page's claims are still true.
If you need a like-for-like replacement
If you want a tool that writes to a content grade, you are choosing between content optimisation tools. We already compare several on their own pages:
Compared at /alternatives/surfer-seo/, a content optimisation tool.
Compared at /alternatives/frase/, a content optimisation tool.
Compared at /alternatives/marketmuse/, a content planning tool.
Compare each on its own pricing page, and ask for a trial on a page you already know well.
A fair test uses the same three pages in every tool: one that ranks well, one that has slipped, and one you published recently. Note what each tool tells you to change, how specific it is, and how long it takes you to act on it. A tool that gives vague advice on all three pages is unlikely to improve with more of your money.
Keep the test honest about the different jobs. A content grade, an AI-mention tracker and a fact check each answer a different question, so judge each against its own job and not against a single score.
Questions to ask before you switch
Writing new pages to a grade, tracking AI mentions, refreshing old pages, or keeping facts correct are four different jobs.
Clicks, rankings, or changed facts?
Limits on pages and tracked queries drive cost more than seat count does.
Check the editor or CMS connection for the tool you use.
A clear 'not stated' is a reason to ask the vendor, not to assume.
How Veritas works
Veritas finds your pages, extracts the claims, searches for evidence and puts anything that has changed in front of an editor.
It reads sitemaps, sitemap indexes, news sitemaps and RSS or Atom feeds.
It pulls out claims and looks for evidence from outside your own pages.
Each claim gets one of five verdicts, with the confidence needed to alert tuned by editors' decisions.
Editors review the evidence and apply the suggested rewrite.
Honest limitsWhen Veritas isn't the right fit
Veritas isn't the right fit if you want to optimise drafts against a content grade, track how often AI assistants name your brand, or plan keywords. Those are Clearscope's jobs and Veritas doesn't do them.
It also isn't a replacement for a ranking or traffic view. If your question is why clicks fell, you need Search Console-based tools. Veritas is for the separate question of whether the page's claims still hold.
How Veritas works
- Finds your pagesReads your sitemaps, Google News sitemaps and RSS or Atom feeds on a schedule.
- Pulls out the claimsStatistics, dates, who holds a role, quotes, events. Opinion is skipped.
- Checks the evidenceSearches outside your site and prefers primary sources.
- Hands editors the fixConfident findings only, with citations and a one-click rewrite.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Clearscope alternative?
It depends on the job. For writing to a content grade, lists name Surfer SEO, Frase, MarketMuse and others; compare each on its own site. For keeping published claims accurate, Veritas is built for that.
Is Clearscope still available?
Yes. Its website was live and its product pages loaded on 2 November 2026. We found no acquisition or rebrand announcement, though its site doesn't state who owns it.
What does Clearscope's Content Decay view measure?
Per its help article, clicks over the last 90 days compared with the same 90 days the previous year, with a 12-month sparkline. It needs Search Console and counts clicks only.
Does Clearscope check whether facts in an article are true?
That isn't stated on the pages we read. Its grade measures term coverage, and its Monitor views watch clicks, grade and rankings.
Is Veritas a Clearscope replacement?
No. Veritas doesn't grade drafts, suggest terms or track rankings or AI mentions. It checks whether published claims are still true, and some teams use it alongside a content optimisation tool.
How much does Clearscope cost?
It has three tiers, a small plan, a team plan and a custom enterprise plan, with limits on queries, pages and drafts. Results disagree on prices, so read its pricing page.
Does Veritas work with Search Console?
Veritas reads your sitemaps and feeds to find pages and doesn't need Search Console to run.
Keep every page true
Veritas re-checks the facts across your published pages and hands editors a sourced fix when one goes stale.
